We are seeking a QUALIFIED ACCOUNTANT with strong technical skills to undertake the development and governance of financial strategies and policies and oversee accounting functions for the organisations.
The company is the leading economic development organisation for the West of Cumbria. Its role is key to the economy of the area. The company is currently going through a major change programme which is bringing together a number of agencies into one consolidated organisation offering business support to the local supply chain and start up businesses and also seeking to attract companies into the area. It also has a major investment programme into capital schemes and property interests in Westlakes Science & Technology Park and Managed Workspace
Head of Finance Key Accountabilities
As Head of Finance you will ensure that all key financial management issues and associated risks are appropriately discussed and mitigated
Financial Management, to continue to develop a framework of systems and controls which facilitate efficient use of appropriate resources
Preparation of budgets, management accounts, annual statutory accounts and other financial reports
Treasury and cash management
Financial Reporting, communicate financial matters effectively with Board members and colleagues.
Due diligence, to ensure financial procedures are robust and maintained across the organisation and within projects with which it becomes involved
Developing the Financial Strategy
Updating and maintaining robust Financial Monitoring and Reporting Systems
Ensure the delivery of and effective reporting of financial plans to the Company Boards
Advising Board Members on matters affecting Finance and Governance
As a fully integrated member of the Management Team, contribute to developing strategies and objectives supporting the aims of company growth and development
Organisation Strategy, to ensure that the companies have viable financial plans to support the strategic objectives of the organisations
Leadership, provide effective leadership to the Finance Team across the organisation
Management, work with colleagues to provide effective management of the company offices and Staff
As company secretary, maintaining statutory records and guiding the Boards on governance issues
Overall responsibility for Quality Systems and ISO Accreditation
Act as Data Protection Controller
Skills & Experience
You must be able to show initiative in supporting the company move forward and building into an organisation that can lead our client into a new era of opportunity emerging from its strategy of diversification, renewable technologies and new nuclear build.
This is a key senior role within the organisation therefore the successful candidate needs to be able to demonstrate a good understanding of leadership skills, requirements of businesses small, medium and large and economic development and regeneration.
Salary & Benefits
Competitive salary of £45,000 – 47,000
Hours of work Monday to Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm
27 Days Holidays + Statutory Bank Holidays
